This site is dedicated to the memory of John Leith.

John Leith, who passed away in April 2008, was a much-loved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. We all loved him very much. John was an extraordinary man; a deeply committed Christian and family man. Never one to watch life from the sidelines, always at the heart of things doing whatever he could for other people. In his later years, he battled Pulmonary Fibrosing Alveolitis but, however hard things became he was a fighter, and to the last he retained his sparkling sense of humour. The fortitude he showed with his condition for thirteen years was inspirational. He wasn’t afraid to take his oxygen concentrator to the gym! A devout Christian, he was regularly involved in Sunday School, Bible Class and as a Church Elder. He was an extremely generous man, giving his time and energy to so many people and organisations like Fact and Faith Films and Scripture Union. His talents and creativity knew no bounds. He taught himself numerous musical instruments and regularly played Baritone horn with the Corstorphine Concert Band. His working life was in the field of teaching. He was a Geography and Computing teacher, as well as Head of Year and Deputy Head. For him, teaching was a passion. He was very popular with the pupils and organised many school trips around Europe. He wrote two textbooks and was also involved in numerous extra-curricular sporting, musical and dramatic activities. Wherever John was, he made a difference. We, John’s family and friends, are all devastated by his loss but being a part of his life has brought so many of us joy and we are left with these and many more, happy memories.
